Initial Prototype

Goals

  • Design and prototype an additively manufactured, passive, irreversible shock failsafe

  • When loaded with a prescribed shock profile, the failsafe must irreversibly break a circuit

  • Goal of implementing as much additive manufacturing as possible

  • Part of my work at Sandia National Laboratories during the summer of 2017

Contributions

  • Complete design, prototyping, and manufacturing of the final product

  • Assembly and testing of the final prototype

  • Presentation of design process and results to panel of experts
