Centrifugal Cooler.

Goals

  • Prototype a mechanical drink cooler using a centrifugal cooling technique to rapidly cool drinks

  • For my Design for Manufacturability (ME270) course project

Contributions

  • Calculations and design of the cooler

  • Designed with a gear ratio of around 8:1, combining both bevel and planetary gears, meaning the user should rotate the input shaft at about 80RPM for maximum efficiency

Results

  • Overall temperature change of 20-30 degrees after only a minute of spinning

  • Admittedly, we got a little out of hand with this video, but it was all to express how much fun we had with this project, and this class as a whole
